The Virtual Office
SAS Foundation in partnership with Oasis Christian Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana opened up a virtual office to enable the foundation ease communication with her partners and donors and also facilitate the electronic mentorship program done in the United States of America. The virtual office is an interface between SAS Foundation and the out side world.
The virtual office started operating in March 2007. The office is run by two ladies Florence Namiiro and Catherine Mugisha.
Since the opening of the Virtual Office, there has been an increased flow of information from the Foundation to the partners and from the partners to the Foundation.
On average the Virtual Office receives between 10- 15 calls a day from partners and donors. There have been new developments for example the creation of the first news letter which will be produced every three months, teleconferencing with partners and friends in the United States. This news letter can be accessed through our website and through partners email addresses.
Recently the virtual office was honored to participate in the training of mentors, who were hosted by Pastor Charles and Mrs. Gladys Wallace of Oasis Christian Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States of America right here in our offices in Kampala, Uganda. There were a total of four trainers three of whom are based in Uganda and one based in the US. Dr. Andrew Kambugu of Infectious Disease Institute, Mr. Peter Echiba and Reverand Rubaiza Obed of SAS Foundation Uganda Limited are based in Uganda and Dr. Robert Muhumuza of SAS Foundation USA based in the US. 27 mentors were trained and awarded certificates by State representative Regina Barrow at the end of the three day training session.
