WORKSHOPS HANDLED

The workshops were divided into education, medical social, and legal.  The purpose of the workshops was for them to come up with recommendations about IBES in the education, medical, social and legal perspectives of IBES.  The following recommendations were suggested in the workshops:

Education:

Target all children at different stages or levels through information dissemination through drama, seminars/workshops, and video shoes.

Involve the Ministry of Health, family, and policy at work places on HIV/AIDS.

Medical:

Target Children with educational campaign

Develop a culture of casual visits by parents to doctors

Integrate mandatory testing with Immunisation and the use of patients themselves as agents of change

Social:

Information needs to be given at an appropriate time

Parents, teachers and children should be involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS

Awareness should be a continuous process

Legal:

There is need to have a legal framework in place on dissemination of information at work places, schools and homes

Mandatory tests should be done at home and should be kept confidential
